Product accounting and stock controls

Review an item's stock behaviour and accounting mappings before using it in transactions.

3 min read

Review an item's stock behaviour and accounting mappings before using it in transactions.

Step by step

  1. 1Open the product and choose the item type and stock-tracking behaviour appropriate to the business.
  2. 2Review the available sales, purchase, inventory and cost-related account mappings required by that item type.
  3. 3Check account currency and company scope with your accountant; product-specific mappings can override shared posting defaults.
  4. 4Confirm the selected branch has enough available stock before posting an invoice or POS sale.
  5. 5Review any batch, expiry or serial settings supported by the product and use them consistently in physical movements.

Do not change item settings to bypass a stock shortage or use a service item to conceal a physical inventory movement.
