Migrate each customer's remaining invoice debt without recording new sales or inventing old payments.

Step by step

  1. 1As a workspace owner or administrator, open Sales → Migration → Opening Invoices in the workspace that contains the existing customers and branches.
  2. 2Agree the accounting cutover date with your accountant. Keep each original invoice date and due date, and enter only its unpaid balance.
  3. 3Download the template and customer / branch lookup. CSV and XLSX files support Customer Name and Branch Name, or the older ID columns, with up to 500 invoices per file.
  4. 4Use YYYY-MM-DD dates and the workspace currency. Original Invoice Value is optional information, not an amount to post.
  5. 5Choose the file and review the preview. Names must match existing active records, ignoring only case and extra spaces; unknown, ambiguous and duplicate records are blocked.
  6. 6Import ready rows as drafts. Review created documents and any uncertain outcomes before retrying a row.
  7. 7Post or submit the reviewed drafts through the configured invoice approval workflow. Posting records accounts receivable against Opening Balance Equity at the cutover date, without sales revenue, tax or stock movements.
  8. 8Allocate subsequent customer receipts to these invoices through Receive Payments. Delete an unposted draft or void a posted opening invoice before creating a correction.

Preview writes nothing, and the importer does not create customers or branches. Do not also load the same debt through customer or account opening balances. Records in another workspace or the development system are not automatically available in production.
