Review demand and supply, then deliberately turn suitable planning suggestions into documents.
Step by step
- 1Open Production → MRP Planning. The owner enables MRP and sets the planning horizon and optional scheduled-run settings.
- 2Review product planning policies and add forecasts only where you want forecast demand included.
- 3Start a planning run for the intended scope. Wait for it to finish and review the demand sources, available supply, dates and suggested quantities.
- 4Review commitments and shortages carefully. Allocations represent other commitments; an invoice or bill is not necessarily a physical stock fulfilment.
- 5Edit or reject suggestions where appropriate. Firm only those suggestions you intend to turn into the supported planning documents.
- 6Review generated requisitions and submit them through their available approval process. Monitor actual receipt and production progress separately.
A planning run does not automatically order goods or manufacture stock. Scheduled runs never firm suggestions. Review overdue dates and supply assumptions rather than treating every suggested supply as received.
